1960s

The Founding

The school started in the 1960s as Pillar Secondary School under the Pillar Hindu community of Mbale, Uganda.

1972

Name Change

In 1972, its name was changed to Mbale High School when the Asians departed under President Amin's rule. It came under a Board of Directors, among whom was Mr. Mavire, who bought it from the departed Asians' Custodian Board.

1944

Community Repossession

In 1944, the Hindu community repossessed it from the government.

1945

Government Purchase

In 1945, the government again bought it from the Hindu community at a certain fee, but only part of the former school.
