Headteacher's Desk

Building character and empowering minds.

Welcome to Mbale High School. I have led this school since 2018. Over the years, we made guidance and counselling the centre of how the school is run, and the change has been real.

What I want for our students is straightforward. I want them to leave here able to think for themselves, earn an honest living, and treat other people with respect. We are an old school with a long history in this region, and the learners sitting in our classrooms today are what keep me at work.

Why Mbale High School?

We have educated children from Mbale and the districts around it since the 1960s. Here are a few reasons families keep choosing us.

More than sixty years in the region

More than sixty years in the region

We opened in the 1960s and have taught generations of learners from Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko and Namisindwa. Parents send us their children because they know us.

A calm school where learning happens

Strong guidance and counselling keeps the school settled and focused, so teachers can teach and students can concentrate on their work.

Sciences, arts and your own language

Sciences, arts and your own language

We run a full O and A level curriculum across sciences and arts, and we keep Lumasaba on the timetable so children stay connected to where they come from.

Open to every family

Open to every family

As a government aided school supporting USE and UPOLET, we make quality secondary education affordable for families across all income levels.

Results that keep improving

Our UCE performance has grown stronger in recent years, with more learners earning Division One and Division Two grades.

More than just lessons

More than just lessons

Football, athletics, debate and a range of clubs give students the chance to lead, compete and build confidence outside the classroom.
